Practice Profile

We would like to welcome all our practice clients to our website. As a family oriented practice our primary aim is to promote good health for you and your family. We do this by using preventative dentistry to help fight dental decay and gum disease. Regular dental advice is given to help you understand how to care for your teeth.

We also offer a comprehensive range of dental treatments.

Practice Policy

It is practice policy for each patient to see one dentist on a continuing basis. However, if this is not possible for any reason, suitable arrangements will be made for you to see another dentist in the practice. The practice also has an in-house hygienist for expert care and advice on all aspects of your oral hygiene.

Safety

As a caring practice, we take all necessary precautions to safeguard both patients and staff against blood-borne infections such as Aids and Hepatitis. We follow recommended guidelines with regard to sterilisation of instruments and the use of disposable items whenever possible.

Range of Services

Both NHS and private treatments are available at the practice. The NHS provides all the treatment necessary to secure and maintain your dental health. Some treatments (e.g. cosmetic) are not available under the NHS and you may choose to have these done privately. The options can be discussed with your dentist.

Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment and we always try to see the patient at the appointed time. If you are kept waiting, please be patient as there is normally a good reason. If you have to cancel an appointment we require 24 hours notice wherever possible so that we can make alternative arrangements, perhaps to see someone in pain. Failure to attend may result in a charge.

Cost of Treatment

The government sets NHS charges and we adhere to this. You will always be given an estimate of your treatment before it starts. On completion it is then due for payment. Cash, cheques, credit and debit cards are all accepted.

Emergency Treatment

If you are in pain the earlier you call that day, the quicker you can be seen. Generally if you call before 10am you will be seen that day. The later you call the greater the chance it will be at least the next day.

If the practice is closed and an emergency arises and you’re a registered patient call the surgery you will be given the telephone number of the triage nurse for the Emergency Dental Service; who’ll advise accordingly.

Registered Patients Procedures

If you have not attended the practice for 4 years you will automatically be de-registered by NHS Practitioner Services in Edinburgh. This is totally outwith the control of the practice. We remind you when your check-up is due and you will be offered a day and time to attend. If it is not suitable an alternative appointment can be made. If you are no longer registered by the practice you are not entitled to emergency treatment.
